It's interesting to look back and recall comments made to you during the aftermath of losing a loved one to suicide.
One former teacher of Pierce's, who I happen to be friends with, said to me the night of the visitation - 'Ya know, I now don't think it was accident that we randomly ran into each other a few weeks ago after not seeing each other for over a year. Pierce was always an odd bird who marched to the beat of his own drum.' Ummm....not the best choice of words to say to a grieving mom.
Another mom said to me as she approached me at the visitation, 'I'm just sitting here, watching the video of all the beautiful photos of y'all's life...'
A local LJ mom said after seeing the poster boards I made - 'The middle school years, that's how we knew him....that's how we remember him.'
Rev. Barnett recalls him as an elementary kid because that is when he knew him at church before retirement....he moved away before seeing P grow up into a young man.
